Who are the CoverUps?

The CoverUps are a group of professional musicians based in the West Midlands. Since the early 2000s the band have been playing fresh and lively gigs throughout the UK and Europe at weddings, corporate events, birthday parties – you name it!

The band pride themselves on an up-to the minute set list that stretches back through the decades, with an energetic live performance by a group who can actually play and sing! Can the band play our first dance?

The CoverUps always enjoy playing a first dance live for a couple. As part of the band’s Classic & Luxury packages we offer to learn a new song for a first dance wherever we think we can do it justice!

How much do the CoverUps cost?

The price for hiring the CoverUps varies depending on a number of factors including location and date. For a ball-park figure, why not get a quote?

We aim to provide you with the best and most appropriate service within your budget whenever possible – so get in touch if you want to chat over the options!

How long do you play for?

At weddings and parties The CoverUps usually play live for up to 2 hours during the evening, either as 2x1hr sets, or as 3×40 minute sets.

Corporate functions often benefit from one straight set of 90mins. This allows the band to play a lively, high impact set without the band’s usual breaks.

What if a band member is sick?

To maximise The CoverUps’ availability, the band operate a tightly coordinated group of professional session musicians, with at least 3 extremely talented individuals for each part. As such, when any of our musicians or singers are sick, we can call on the other players to fill their slot.

What regions do the band cover?

We’re happy to travel to anywhere you’d like us to play! The CoverUps are based in Coventry in the West Midlands, and as such the band are most competitive in Coventry, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire,Birmingham and across Oxfordshire and the West Midlands.

Do we need a DJ to play music in the band’s breaks?

Not at all! The CoverUps will provide appropriate recorded music between the sets. Alternatively, we can attach your MP3 player or laptop to our system for you to play your own choice of music. We find you just need to have enough music to keep the atmosphere while the band & guests have a break from dancing!

However if you would like us to provide a professional DJ, we can add this as an upgrade to your package! Make sure to mention this in your quote!

Can we see the band perform live before booking?

As The CoverUps perform at private weddings and corporate events we are not able to invite others to come in person and watch us live. However, we have made a selection of videos recorded live at various weddings and events - check out our instagram for the most recent updates!

Will the band need PA, lighting and staging?

The CoverUps carry an up to the minute PA and lighting rig capable of serving a dance floor of up to 250 people. For larger events and events using production companies we usually find it makes most sense to liaise with the hire companies involved as to our requirements so that the event runs seamlessly from earlier presentations.

At many private functions, including weddings and birthday parties staging is not required and sometimes a high stage serves to distance the band from the audience. Again, with larger events, use of staging already provided can give the band focus and a vantage from which to deliver an engaging performance.

Does the band have public liability insurance (PLI) and PAT certificates?

The CoverUps are covered by £5m of public liability insurance and are able to send copies of our certificate to venues as required.

All equipment used by the CoverUps is electrically safe and PAT tested. While the legal standard is PAT testing, we also regularly service high powered equipment to ensure the safety of band members and guests.
