Summer Wedding At The Lynches In Shrewsbury

This wedding was a particularly special occasion for The CoverUps as the bride booked the band after hearing them perform at her sister’s wedding in 2014! Katie and James were married this June and celebrated with their friends and family at The Lynches in Shrewsbury, just an hour and a half from the band’s base in Coventry, West Midlands.

The band had an earlier start than usual- arriving at 4:00pm to set up and soundcheck before the wedding guests finished their meal. Typically the band play a total of two hours of live music unless otherwise requested. For their wedding reception, Katie and James asked the band to play for two and half hours which ended the night at 12:30am. The CoverUps were ready to party until the lights went out!

The bride and groom emailed the band before the wedding day and asked for a few of their favourite tracks to be included in the set lists. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen was amongst a few of their favourites and The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy was especially requested for the bride’s mum. A few other classics were also added including Summer Of ’69 by Bryan Adams and Shine by Take That. The bride had also requested Shake It Off by Taylor Swift for all the ladies in the room. We don’t normally add this song unless our 5-piece band is booked, however, we wanted to make this night a night to remember for the bride and groom so we threw it in our set list and everyone loved it!

After the band performed a live cover of the bride and groom’s first dance choice, You Belong To Me by Bryan Adams, guests joined the happy couple on the dance floor and we kicked off the night with Moondance by Van Morrison.

The newlyweds and their guests kept the dance floor full late into the night and we couldn’t ask for anything better! To top it all off, there was an amazing firework show that had everyone in awe. What a great way to end the night! Congratulations to James and Katie! Please enjoy a fully live highlight video from the night below… make sure to keep watching for footage of the fireworks!
