(Update:Testimonial) South Wales For The Band’s First Wedding This Season!

Saturday saw the band’s first wedding of the 2012 wedding season. Off to an early, mid-March start this year we’re all left looking forward to a season that continues the way it started – a packed dance floor start to finish… and Elvis!

Elvis is in the Building!

It’s great working with other live entertainers at weddings – and this couple had really gone to town! A table magician, a live wedding band… and Elvis! We had a good chat with Ricky Rivers (as he’s known by day!) over dinner. A thoroughly nice guy, and as it turns out, not a bad Elvis impersonator either!

As we often talk about on this blog, tonight’s wedding ran just a little over time. Set-up at the Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend could not have been simpler – meaning that while we were running over an hour late as we started, we managed to shave half an hour off the 90mins we ask for to set up.

Signed, Sealed Delivered

Tonight’s first dance was a new track for us – but we have a feeling it’s going to make future appearances! Signed, Sealed Delivered by Stevie Wonder was the track. Our bride and groom had something of an ad hoc dance prepared, and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves! It’s great for the wedding band to be able to play a first dance live – and while there’s limits to what can be achieved with a guitar based line-up, I hope this rendition will give an idea of exactly how versatile we can be…

South Wales is a Long Way from Home for this Wedding Band!

Being only half an hour from where he grew up, it felt like a long journey home to the West Midlands for Mike – but the adrenaline of being part of a couple’s big day kept him awake long into the night. Tracks like Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger and Don’t Stop Believing sounded great tonight. Jack’s use of the new sample pad really added to the fullness of the sound, and brought the freshness we’d hoped for for the new season.

A Summer Full of Weddings

After spending some time over the winter months on our individual endeavours (more on this to come!) it was great to be back on stage together. The summer is almost full – just a few Saturday’s left – so we’ll be keeping ourselves out of trouble for the coming months. A few new tracks are in the wings, and some great choices for first dances are in already… it’s set to be a great wedding season!
