Tonight the band were providing evening entertainment at a really lively wedding in Royston. Not exactly on the band’s doorstep, the musicians arrived nearly an hour early after contingency time in hand wasn’t needed. The staff at the venue were brilliantly accommodating and we had a lovely bit of time catching up with one another on the week’s events.
A Helping Hand and Speedy Set-up
Our catch up was brought to an abrupt end as it transpired that no microphone had been arranged for the speeches. The venue’s in house pa baffled us, so we grabbed the necessary bits and bobs from our vehicles and got a working system in place for the speeches. After speeches were over and things had somewhat typically run over we were challenged with a super speedy setup. The load in was straight forward enough and no technical complications arose leaving us set and ready within an hour of the area being cleared.
Lively Wedding Music and Wedding Guests
Starting that little bit later meant the guests were raring and ready to go when we arrived. The first dance, Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together brought the couples to the dance floor and we took things from there. The dance floor remained bustling through the whole wedding reception; music hitting the spot for young and old alike. Highlights for us included Superstition, Andy hitting the groove just right, and Steve rocking the solos in Don’t Stop Me Now and Don’t Stop Believing. 3 shows next weekend, a busy week ahead… So time for bed!
