It was just over an hours drive from The CoverUps HQ, in Coventry, that lead us to Wrest Park– a historical park previously owned by Thomas De Grey, 2nd Earl De Grey. We drove through the small town of Silsoe straight onto a dirt road leading up to the towering country estate of Wrest Park. The beautiful grounds forced us to roll down our windows and get out our phones to grab a few pics- hardly did the view justice! After taking in the view of the mansion and golden trees lining the gravel driveway, we pulled our cars around a corner towards the wedding. A few narrow dirt roads quickly led us to a standalone building overlooking even more pristine landscape with stone steps and prestigious architecture. This was the famous Orangery!
Singing Waitresses And An Already Buzzing Crowd!
Before we set up for the evening reception, the guests were treated by singing waitresses! Belting out the power ballads had the Bride and Groom and all their family and friends up and dancing before we even finished our dinner! What a great way to start the evening. With everyone up on their feet, drink in one hand and the other pointing and waving in the air, we knew this was sure to be an energetic bunch!
Our load in was fairly easy, though we needed to watch our feet on the slippery, stone staircase leading up to the Orangery. Another interesting quirk to the night would have to be the overly friendly crane flies! Being in a rural location sometimes means you need to get involved with the ‘locals’!
“You Are The Best Thing”…
Our lead singer, James, hit the night off with Jo and Steve’s personal request for their first dance, “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray La Montagne. It wasn’t long before the guests joined the Bride and Groom on the dance floor and partied on as we picked up the tempo with “Stuck in the Middle”.
Spirits were high, drinks were flowing, everyone was busting out their best dance moves and we were having a blast. To our surprise it was an earlier ending to an evening than usual with a pack up starting at 11:00pm. We were on our way home by 11:50!
Thank you Jo and Steve for being such a lovely pair. We wish you all the best in your newly married life together!
