Gloriously Sunny Wedding at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire

Today’s wedding took the band just north of London. A quick trip down an uncongested M1 and the band arrived in plenty of time to load in and start setting up before food was served. On arrival Hatfield House was bathed in glorious sunshine and looked a truly spectacular wedding venue. A straight forward load in to the Old Palace and a spacious playing area made the set-up of tonight’s 5-piece wedding band remarkably straightforward.

A Time For Everything

In contrast to many weddings we play, today’s schedule was relaxed. No evening buffet meant that even though timings ran on a little during speeches there was plenty of time for dancing left. The first dance, Ben E King’s “Stand By Me” was a lovely choice and an invitation to join the bride and groom on the dance floor was readily accepted by the wedding guests.

Evening Reception Highlights

“Can’t Buy Me Love” was a brilliant moment with the bride and groom clearly chuffed we’d added their request to the set. There were a few songs which were really lifted by the addition of our dedicated keyboard player as a 5th member of the band. Some of our favourites were “Moves Like Jagger”, “Superstition” (great clavinet part!) and “Don’t Stop Me Now”.

Next week the band venture to Hampshire with a wedding in Winchester… must put a play list together to keep us going on the journey home!
