Barnsley House Wedding To Kick Off July

To kick off our July wedding season The CoverUps returned to Barnsley House, this time, for Andrew and Emma’s wedding reception! The band have had the pleasure of playing at this Cotswold wedding venue numerous times before in both the main house and the marquee. Barnsley House always exceeds our expectations being a beloved historical venue with gorgeous grounds and welcoming staff who ensure the night runs smoothly.

The band arrived at Barnsley House in due time to set up their gear and sound check. As requested, we supplied I Won’t Let You Go by James Morison for the bride and groom’s first dance. Once guests were encouraged onto the dance floor the band started the night with Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran, a favourite track also requested by Emma and Andrew. The dance floor was full, the bride and groom and their guests were drinking happily and enjoying themselves- what more could we ask for!

With a 12:30am finish, ending on a high note with a live cover of Summer Of ’69 by Bryan Adams, the band packed up and headed home to Coventry. It’s safe to say the band had an incredible time playing live music for Andrew and Emma on their wedding day and it was a successful night all in all.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! Thank you for booking The CoverUps as your wedding band!

Corporate Event In Birmingham Wraps Up June

To wrap up The CoverUps’ June wedding season the band returned to our sister-city, Birmingham, this time, for a corporate event at Holiday Inn! Just down the road from Coventry where the band resides, Birmingham has a variety of fantastic venues we would recommend. Holiday Inn is certainly one of them especially for corporate events as the venue can easily host 100+ guests.

The band arrived at 6:00pm to quickly set up and soundcheck. Once the stage was set, the band were treated to a hot chicken dinner which gave us the energy we needed to kick off the night with real energy! The CoverUps 4-piece band with a male lead vocalist was booked for the night. It was requested the band play a range of songs from 50s-80s mostly to appeal to an age range of 30-60 years. Of course, we didn’t mind one bit!

Popular tracks by The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Queen and Aha really got guests on the dancefloor. We ended the night on a high note with Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis which always goes down a treat. A successful, fun night all in all!

Summer Wedding At The Lynches In Shrewsbury

This wedding was a particularly special occasion for The CoverUps as the bride booked the band after hearing them perform at her sister’s wedding in 2014! Katie and James were married this June and celebrated with their friends and family at The Lynches in Shrewsbury, just an hour and a half from the band’s base in Coventry, West Midlands.

The band had an earlier start than usual- arriving at 4:00pm to set up and soundcheck before the wedding guests finished their meal. Typically the band play a total of two hours of live music unless otherwise requested. For their wedding reception, Katie and James asked the band to play for two and half hours which ended the night at 12:30am. The CoverUps were ready to party until the lights went out!

The bride and groom emailed the band before the wedding day and asked for a few of their favourite tracks to be included in the set lists. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen was amongst a few of their favourites and The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy was especially requested for the bride’s mum. A few other classics were also added including Summer Of ’69 by Bryan Adams and Shine by Take That. The bride had also requested Shake It Off by Taylor Swift for all the ladies in the room. We don’t normally add this song unless our 5-piece band is booked, however, we wanted to make this night a night to remember for the bride and groom so we threw it in our set list and everyone loved it!

After the band performed a live cover of the bride and groom’s first dance choice, You Belong To Me by Bryan Adams, guests joined the happy couple on the dance floor and we kicked off the night with Moondance by Van Morrison.

The newlyweds and their guests kept the dance floor full late into the night and we couldn’t ask for anything better! To top it all off, there was an amazing firework show that had everyone in awe. What a great way to end the night! Congratulations to James and Katie! Please enjoy a fully live highlight video from the night below… make sure to keep watching for footage of the fireworks!

Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa For A June Wedding

To kick off our June wedding season The CoverUps returned to Daventry, this time to Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa for Samantha and James’ big day! Being one of the most popular wedding venues in Northamptonshire, it was no surprise that Fawsley Hall proved to be the perfect location for Samantha and James’ wedding celebration. The hall’s 17th century architecture and acres of garden and parkland were especially spectacular.

The band arrived at 6:00pm to set up and soundcheck. After a quick load in, we set the stage in due time for the music to start. The bride and groom booked a DJ to start the night so we had a bit of break before starting our first set. After the DJ’s set the band took to the stage with live covers of Marry You by Bruno Mars and Faith by George Michael as requested by the bride and groom.

Samantha and James had sent us their song requests before the wedding day so the band arranged sets based on the couple’s absolute favourite tracks. Daydream Believer by The Monkees, Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen and Take On Me by Aha were amongst other favourites.

The band couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable night with a dance floor packed until the very end. Congratulations to this fantastic couple. We hope you enjoyed the night even more than The CoverUps did!

Guests were soon encouraged to join the happy couple on the dance floor and we kicked off the night with a set list filled with the bride and groom’s favourite tracks including Hey Ya by Outkast, Valerie by Amy Winehouse and Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson (ft. Bruno Mars).

5-Piece Wedding Band At The Old Rectory Hotel

This May, The CoverUps had the pleasure of visiting an elegant wedding venue, The Old Rectory Hotel, based in Llangattock near the Crickhowell river. Dating back to the 16th century, the hotel was the perfect historical location for Tom and Cassie’s marquee wedding with a view of the Black Mountains in the distance- definitely a first for our Coventry based band!

The bride and groom had booked our 5-piece lineup to play at their wedding reception, specifically requesting one of our female lead singers, Rachel, as they heard her singing at a previous wedding! The band arrived at 6pm to set up and sound check in the marquee set up in the garden. As requested by the newlyweds, we came prepared with an upbeat set list ready to get people on the dance floor!

The band performed a fully live cover of Drift Away by Dobie Gray as the bride and groom’s first dance choice and it kicked off the night brilliantly. Soon after, guests joined the happy couple on the dance floor and we got the party started with Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel followed by a favourite, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynrd Skynyrd. The night went down a storm with Tom and Cassie and their guests partying late into the night.

Ettington Park Spring Wedding

Our last event of April saw the band returning to Ettington Park, one of Warwickshire’s most favourited wedding venues. Only a short 40-minute drive for The CoverUps to Stratford-Upon-Avon, we always find it a pleasure to play so close to home.

On this momentous day, Rachel and Alex declared their love for each other in front of their closest family and friends. The band arrived at 6:00pm prompt to set up and perform a live cover of Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran for the newlyweds first dance. Immediately after, the bride and groom celebrated in only the best way- inviting their guests to join them on the dance floor to bust out their best dance moves!

A Set List That Ensures Success

Rachel and Alex contacted the band before their wedding with a list of song requests. The CoverUps very much appreciate when couples do this as it helps the band craft a set list we are certain the bride and groom will love. Happy by Pharrell Williams and Mr Brightside by the Killers were listed as particular favourites along with other iconic tracks and we didn’t hesitate to add them to the set list!

A classic finishing track, Hey Jude by the Beatles – with a note to Elbow’s One Day Like This – wrapped the evening to a close. As the guests continued to enjoy themselves in the bride and groom’s company, the band packed up their gear, said goodbye and called it a very successful night!

Congratulations Rachel and Alex! Thank you for inviting the CoverUps to play a part in your special day!

The band arrived at Worsley Park Marriott HotelManchester at 6:00pm prompt to meet the happy bride and groom and prepare to play live music for their wedding reception.

The band kicked off the night with Marry You by Bruno Mars- a requested favourite by the bride and groom for their first dance. Jacqui and Ian put careful thought into the live music for their wedding which the band always appreciates. Wyck Hill House Wedding

The CoverUps were very excited to visit and perform at Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa for Peter and Gina’s wedding reception. Wyck Hill House is located in the heart of The Cotswolds, only an hour from the band’s HQ in Coventry. When we arrived to see this 4-star country house towering over a view of rolling hills, we could see why it is a popular venue amongst others in Gloucestershire. We definitely added another favourite wedding venue to our list!

The bride and groom requested The CoverUps play a variety of tracks from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s so we prepared our set list beforehand accordingly. The night kicked off with the couple’s unique first dance choice, Play A Dude by Thomas Grey which the band provided on an iPod to play through the PA. As the newlyweds swayed to the music, guests looked on lovingly and with cameras recording the special moment. The night was off to a great start!

As guests were encouraged onto the dance floor, the band took the stage with the classic Moondance by Van Morrison followed by Stuck in the Middle with You by Steelers Wheel. Peter, Gina and their guests kept the dance floor full late into the night and we couldn’t be more pleased to see that everyone enjoyed themselves.

Thank you so much, Peter and Gina for giving The CoverUps the pleasure of playing live music for your memorable wedding day. Congratulations to you both!!
