Tonight’s wedding was at the elegant, rural setting of South Farm, Royston. Arriving, as we did nearly an hour ahead of schedule, we remained confined to our vehicles as the rain drenched the grounds. Fortunately for the happy couple the rain broke at all the right times, allowing formal photos to be taken outside.
It was lovely to be at a wedding and see some pigs enjoying proceedings… They’re more often being enjoyed by the guests in the form of a hog roast! South Farm remains a working farm, being home to animals and the farming family who own the venue. As such the venue is restricted by strict live sound limitations. The official line is to cut off music (and wedding band like us!) above 90dB (just above the volume of a busy restaurant), and we managed to trigger the limiter once during the evening… It’s a shame having to concentrate our performance on a particular volume issue, rather than the audience’s reactions, but judging by the consistently packed dance floor and minimal power disruptions we got the balance about right!
Wedding Band Live Highlights
As usual the pop section opening the second set was a blast. A more relaxed audience and tracks by the likes of Lady Ga Ga and Michael Jackson created an awesome vibe. Hey Jude made a marvellous finale to the wedding entertainment.
Homeward bound now and just enough time to rest up before tomorrow’s wedding fayre at the Tythe Barn, Bicester. We’re the only wedding band being represented (albeit in solo acoustic form with a live acoustic set), so that should be good fun!
